Learning Module

This learning module was created for LTLE 610: Principles of Instructional Design.  It was part of a collaborative project to develop a cohesive set of learning modules for James Madison University's Content Teaching Academy (CTA).  The class collaboratively went through the stages of the design process using the ADDIE Model, creating design documentation, client documentation, and executive summary in addition to the interactive module.

We chose to create the module in PowerPoint and used the authoring tools in Office Mix to add additional interactive elements (assessments).  PowerPoint allowed us to embed videos, create buttons, and use design elements to create a purposeful and effective layout that maximizes the acquisition of knowledge.  Special attention was put into the design upon reflection of adult learning theory, specifically making connections to the learner's experiences.

Graduate Objectives:

1. Apply foundational knowledge and skills to the collaborative design and use of content, pedagogy and instructional technologies.

2. Create conditions for learning by applying theories (e.g. learning theories, curriculum theory and communications theories) to authentic scenarios involving diverse populations.

3. Use modern technologies, and techniques (e.g. collaborative teamwork and rapid prototyping) to design and develop learning materials, media and environments that promote near and far transfer of content knowledge.

8. Analyze, develop and evaluate professional development programs and initiatives that advance the technological, pedagogical and content knowledge of learners.

AECT Standard 1 (Content Knowledge): Candidates demonstrate the knowledge necessary to create, use, assess, and manage theoretical and practical applications of educational technologies and processes.

AECT Standard 2 (Content Pedagogy): Candidates develop as reflective practitioners able to demonstrate effective implementation of educational technologies and processes based on contemporary content and pedagogy.

AECT Standard 3 (Learning Environments): Candidates facilitate learning by creating, using, evaluating, and managing effective learning environments.
